Dr. Mutuku is public health specialist with interests in field-based ecology, epidemiology and operational aspects of malaria, schistosomiasis and filariasis control. His efforts are geared towards a better understanding of the ever changing transmission dynamics especially identifying the environmental features involved in transmission of these diseases. These involves evaluating impact of the current vector-borne disease interventions methods (Insecticide treated nets and indoor residual spray) that are being scaled-up in most vector-borne disease endemic regions. He also has interest in epidemiological research on disease burden and spread, specifically for chikungunya fever and dengue fever. Dr Mutuku is currently a lecturer at Technical University of Mombasa and the chairman of the executive committee of the Pan-African Mosquito Control Association (PAMCA), Kenya chapter.
