Global Vector Control Response 2017-2030 (GVCR) is out

WHO are pleased to share with you a final version (English) of the Global Vector Control Response 2017-2030 (GVCR). The GVCR, as you may recall, provides a new strategy to strengthen vector control worldwide through increased capacity, improved surveillance, better coordination and integrated action across sectors and diseases. The strategic approach proposed in GVCR was strongly supported by Member States at the World Health Assembly in May 2017, and Resolution WHA70.16 was adopted.

To support the roll-out of this new strategy, WHO has developed a number of related communications materials. We encourage you to share these materials widely with your networks:

· A new advocacy brochure
· A thematic web page focused on vector control
· An online Q&A

The GVCR is the result of a collaborative effort between the WHO Global Malaria Programme (GMP), the WHO Department of Control of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD), and the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR). It was developed through broad consultation with Member States and members of the global health community.

The full document will be finalized in the 5 other UN languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) in the coming weeks, and will be shared as they become available.
